Muradiye Mosque was built by Sultan Murad II as the central structure of his complex. The three-line Arabic inscription written in celi sülüs calligraphy on the marble above the mosque's low arched entrance door states that the construction of the mosque was started in 1425 and completed in 1426.
The building, which is one of the mosques with an inverted “T” plan (tabhâneli, zâviyeli), consists of the main place of worship, iwans covered with a dome on both sides and a five-eyed last congregation place. There are two granite columns with Byzantine column capitals in the last congregation place. The wooden door made in kündekârî technique is contemporaneous with the date the mosque was built and is decorated with very fine floral motifs.
